OVERVIEW
Founded in 2018, Bygen is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Bygen’s mission is to establish scalable activated carbon production with negative carbon footprints, the byproduct of which is to rehabilitate the world’s polluted soil, water, and air.
Our ambition extends to creating scalable production of advanced materials derived from activated carbon in the future and developing sustainable, adjacent, deep technologies. Bygen has raised funds from some of Australia’s leading Climate Tech investors, including Alberts Impact, Artesian, Breakthrough Victoria, and Investible.

January 2024
Began commissioning of largest LTA plant to date.
February 2023
Bygen delivered its first bulk bag of activated carbon to a remediation project in Australia.

January 2023
Bygen’s activated carbon plant in Swan Reach, SA granted planning approval. The plant is designed to produce 2,000 tonnes of activated carbon per year from locally available nut shells.

Bygen selected as a finalist in the Falling Walls Venture competition, a global competition for science start-ups.

October 2021
Bygen was featured in the Top 100 Climate Tech companies in Australia and New Zealand by HolonIQ and Climate Salad.
